This weekend is full of walking distance holiday events. Whether you’re an extreme holiday enthusiast (we get it, you know Santa) or you simply like a good excuse to shop and drink, you’ll find plenty of holiday cheer to fill your weekend.
Head north to Highlandtown to kick off the holiday celebrations with the kiddos. Watch the tree lighting, listen to live music, visit the model train garden, and more. Conkling and Eastern will anchor the festivities starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 1. Enjoy free photos with Santa, Hoehn’s cookies, games and more. The train garden opens at 6:30 p.m. Following the Train Garden, stroll the neighborhood for the First Friday Holiday Art Walk and visit galleries, shops and restaurants until 9 p.m.
Another opportunity to catch a good glimpse of St. Nick: the Annual Old Tyme Christmas celebration at Fell’s Point Main Street this Saturday, December 2. Stroll through the cobble-stoned streets of Fell’s Point decked with garlands, bows and twinkling lights. St. Nick will arrive via boat at 9 a.m. Enjoy breakfast at one of the selected local eateries as St. Nick makes his rounds to your breakfast table. There’s also pictures with St. Nick for children and pets (at Sagamore Pendry), an eggnog contest, a kid’s zone, scenes from a Christmas Carol, caroling, and more. The perfect holiday themed afternoon ends with the 30th Annual Baltimore Parade of Lighted Boats from 6 to 8 p.m.
Santa is everywhere! He’s showing up at Mahaffey’s Winter Wonderland Block Party this Saturday, December 2, too. Last year Mahaffey’s invited Santa to breakfast but this year they are upping their game with a block party. The whole street will be blocked off with tents, tables, and chairs so that you and the fam can experience a winter block party at its best. Enjoy live music, face painters, beer food, and of course, Santa (duh). There will be a toy drive for the St. Francis Neighborhood Center; if you bring a toy you get a picture with Santa for free! Breakfast is available (pancakes, sausage, eggs) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event goes until 9 p.m.
No Santa at this one (or at least, we think not), but if you are looking to nab some local, craft-made goodies to fill your holiday celebrations with look no further than the Merry Mart. This Sunday, December 3 head to the Creative Alliance to browse handmade jewelry, scarves, hats, art, home goods and more. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Join the Friends of the Patterson Park for the Third Annual Patterson Park Pagoda Lighting on Sunday, December 3 at 4:30 p.m. Head to Patterson Park with decked out in warm holiday gear and experience live music, food trucks, local gift vendors, a kid’s craft table.. and, you guessed it… Santa. There will also be a toy drive is sponsored by the Exchange Club of Highlandtown. Come see our neighborhood monument in full illumination.
