Sure, the calendar and waning sunlight hours might disagree, but this weekend’s events definitively proves one thing: summer’s not over yet. Catch an outdoor movie, attend another Patterson Park festival, or experience some outdoor yoga. Close your eyes and pretend it’s not fall yet for a few more days.
Yearning for Halloween and just can’t wait another month? This month’s Pics in the Park has you covered. They’re screening Beetle Juice at Center Plaza in the Inner Harbor this Saturday, September 30. Grab a space on the lawn and enjoy the free outdoor movie starting at 7:30 p.m. Center Plaza is located off the Purple Circulator route at N. Charles & Fayette Street. Parking is available in the garage under the plaza, or along Liberty street. The plaza is bike, stroller, and pet friendly, and has free WiFi.
Celebrate local short filmmakers who’ve captured some of the best the area has to offer through documentaries, mockumentaries, animation, fiction, horror and more. The Baltimore Short Film Festival at the Creative Alliance honors and awards the best filmmakers in the Greater Baltimore region. The Creative Alliance selects short films that push the envelope and inspired audiences to view film and video through a uniquely Baltimore lens. Join in on the viewing party and learn about the winners starting at 7:30 p.m on Saturday, September 30. Tickets are $7 for members, $10 for non-members, and +$3 at the door.
This Sunday, October 1 pack a picnic and head to Patterson Park to experience one final food, music, and dance festival hosted by the Baltimore Folk Music Society. The festival kicks off at noon and features all types of folk music including: Cajun, Irish, a steel drum band, “old-time” music, and more. There will also be a performance of historic English sword dancing. There will also be food and craft vendors selling goodies. Make a folksy day of it!
Get in one last flow session facing Canton’s slice of the harbor this Sunday, October 1. Pop-up Yoga Baltimore is hosting it’s final, donation-based yoga program from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A limited number of mats will be provided, so bring-your-own mat, water, and towel for the event. As a special send off, everyone who comes to class will get a free raffle ticket and chance to win this awesome mat. If you want more than one chance to win, additional raffle tickets are $1 each.
