I love a good party, and I don’t want you to miss out just because I’m a little swamped. Check out our guest post from our neighbors and local charity party planners extraordinaires, Jody and Leanne…

For the past four years, over the last weekend in August, my sister Leanne and I have thrown a 90s dance party to raise money for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults to honor the memory of our dear friend Mia, who passed away from cancer at age 31. Castaways in Canton has been a generous host, and we’ve had great support from friends in the music business who have lent their time and talents to keep us dancing all night long!

Over the past four years, we’ve raised over $13,500 to ensure that no young adult faces cancer alone and have made some great memories in the process (A cappella Bohemian Rhapsody anyone?). We’ve also seen some of the sweetest (and I do mean sweetest) dance moves around – with more than a few being impossible to forget.

This year, the Ulman Cancer Fund is expanding our original 90s party to Power Plant Live to celebrate 20 years of helping young adults and to share the love of 90s with even more people. We couldn’t be more excited! That party will be on Sept. 22, and we hope to see you there! To find tickets, click here.

But… as happy as we are about the bigger “I Heart the 90s Party”, there was a part of us that still longed to throw a good old-fashioned Castaways dance party in August. Over a few happy hours, and more than one frosty beverage, the idea to throw a Toga Dance party was born!

We hope you will join us on August 25 in your finest sheet (or white ensemble) to celebrate summer, to celebrate friends, and to raise money for one of our city’s best organizations. We’ll be back at our favorite location, Castaways, and will have drink specials rolling all night [$2 domestics, $3 imports, $4 rail].

The awesome band Spilled Milk (you may have heard them in Fells Point at the Waterfront) will play our favorite dance tunes, and we expect to see more than a few new moves on the dance floor!

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and our first 75 people to arrive will receive a special gold laurel leaf crown to wear and a custom red drink coozie, thanks to our sponsor Barcoding, Inc.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Ulman Cancer Fund! To purchase a ticket or to make a donation, please click here. To RSVP on Facebook and spread the word, click here.

Hope to see you there! TOGA TOGA TOGA!!
