Weekend Wrap-Up: BaltiFests

This weekend is all about festivals! With almost perfect temps promised and schools out (or almost out), it’s the perfect time to get out and explore all of the things that make Baltimore and Maryland unique, including: our Greek heritage, hon heritage, folklife, and beautiful parks! Get your fest hats on Canton, cause it’s the weekend.

St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival

Experience some of the great Greek food and culture just to the east of us in Greektown this weekend: the St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival. Head to Maryland’s biggest Greek celebration to eat, drink, take in some traditional Greek music and dancing. The festival is running now through the weekend from noon to 10 or 11 p.m. each day. Admission is free.

Hon Fest 2017

Cat eye sunglasses and polk-a-dot dresses will take over the Baltimore streets this weekend, June 10 and 11, in celebration of a cultural icon that anchors Baltimore: the hon. Join in on the people watching parade, get dolled up in the beauty lounge, participate in the best Hon contest, and browse crafts and food vendors. You’ll have a fabulous time, hon. Admission is free.

7th Annual Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival at the Creative Alliance

If you’d prefer more of a mix of cultures in your festival-going, head to the Creative Alliance this weekend on Saturday, June 10 from noon to 7 p.m.. The Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration of folklife, or those living traditions practiced by cultural communities across the state of Maryland. Think Native American round dancing, Baltimore jazz, and Beijing opera. Leave feeling cultured.

Volo City Launch Party

Previously known as Baltimore Social, Volo City, invites parents, children and members of the community for a free, outdoor festival this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Port Covington area of Baltimore City at the fields across from Sagamore Spirit Distillery. Featuring a live band and DJ, kids play area, food trucks and adult beverages, the event will also have Sagarmore Rye tastings, games with FX Studios and Pixelated photo booths.
