Weekend Wrap-Up: Opening Days

So you missed O’s Opening Day did ya? Or maybe you are just reminiscing on Opening Day, since you were there. Either way, aside from heading back to the ballpark this weekend to watch the O’s play the Yankees, there are other opening days ahead. Open your running season with a 10k or your bluegrass fandom with brunch. Open your appreciation for neon body art or head to the pagoda’s very own opening day. It’s a weekend full of new beginnings. And we’re open to them.

Under Armour Sole of the City 10k

If you’re feeling like randomly running a 10k this weekend, or simply spectating, head to the Under Armour Sole of the City this Saturday, April 8 at 9 a.m. Participants will run the streets of Baltimore and finish up at Charm City Run McHenry Row. The after-run festivities will be sponsored by the Greene Turtle. Entry is $50-$75. The run benefits Reading Partners and March of Dimes.

Bluegrass Brunch at Cardinal Tavern

Start your weekend off with a bit of Bluegrass and bananas foster French toast. Cardinal Tavern will feed and prep you this Saturday, April 8 for the 5th Annual Charm City Bluegrass Festival. Menu items include chicken and waffles, bottomless mimosas, and okra bloodies. Bluegrass festival artists will be on hand to serenade your brunch. There is no extra charge to get in to the brunch (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), but festival tickets will be on sale for $45.

LIT a Neon Glow Party at the Point in Fells

Dim the lights on the Light City festival with a dance party in Fells Point while decked out in glowing body paint! On Saturday, April 8, from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., head to the Point in Fells to get painted and dance into the early hours to DJ Cornflake Hill featuring KAMAJIAN Live Percussion. Body art painters will be ready to create artwork for you for from $5 to $15 (depending on size and intricacy.

Pagoda Opening Day

Pagoda fans rejoice: the pagoda will be open a week early this year! Weather permitting, Friends of Patterson Park plan to open the pagoda to public viewing this Sunday, April 9 from noon to 6 p.m. Take the view in of springtime in the park from atop the pagoda this Sunday, and ever Sunday after!
