Weekend Wrap-Up

Boeing Boeing

WE. SURVIVED. THE. POLAR. VORTEX. And while other states had it much worse than us, we are pretty sure the entire neighborhood deserves a drink as the weather warms in time for the weekend. And as we all come out of hibernation, here’s a round up of places to venture to this weekend, if they are not permanently trapped in an icicle.

Beginning Friday, January 10, 11:15 a.m.: Mommy and Me Pilates at Inline Fitness

Who said caring for an infant meant staying holed up all winter and foregoing exercise? Inline Group Fitness invites mommies and their little ones (six weeks to crawling) to come play and do pilates as part of a six-week series beginning January 10. Get six classes for $80, or drop in for $15. The Mommy and Me Pilates class promises to target those areas that need a little extra help after pregnancy while keeping your baby involved in the exercises.

Beginning Friday, January 10, 8 p.m.: Go See: Boeing Boeing at Fells Point Corner Theatre:

We don’t see (or write about) a lot of theater around these parts, but when we do, it’s because we think it’s a play with an excellent cast and a story a lot of our readers can relate to – or laugh at. Enter (from stage left) Boeing Boeing, the tale of a handsome bachelor engaged to three flight attendants at the same time. It can really only get better from there. Tickets are $20 for Thurs-Sat shows at 8 p.m. and $15 for a Sunday show at 2 p.m. Go here for more information and to buy tickets.

Saturday, January 11, 6:30 p.m.: Tokifact (Restaurant Takeover) at Artifact Coffee:

When a popular Washington, D.C. noodle destination teams up with Woodberry Kitchen and Artifact Coffee (and now Shoofly Diner) owner Spike Gjerde, it warrants venturing out of the Canton area on a Saturday night. “Tokifact” is being billed as a ramen takeover of Artifact Coffee for two weekends only: January 9 to 11 and January 16 to 18. Take advantage of the rare occasion to gorge on locally-sourced ramen and dumplings while Spike’s team serves up some mean, delicious sake and cocktails. Just be sure to bring us back some leftovers.

Sunday, January 12, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Give Blood at St. Casimir’s Church

After a weekend of partying too hard and breaking all your New Year’s resolutions because you survived the polar vortex, there’s still an opportunity to feel good about one aspect of your weekend. As we wrote about earlier this week, you can give blood starting at 10 a.m on Sunday at St. Casimir’s Church. Schedule online by going to www.redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code: 0539576, or  you can call  1-800-RED-CROSS. Do good, and eat cookies.
