Some major holidays are a few weeks away, but early December is still jam-packed with good reasons to celebrate. Good deals are taking over local retail, giving is in the air, and there’s always a good excused to drink, eat, and be merry. If you get a chance to explore what Canton has to offer in the middle of all those holiday parties, below are some notables for this weekend and early next week. Crack open that egg nog. It’s the weekend.
Friday, December 6, noon: Eat a Three-Course Lunch at BlueHill Tavern:
Treat your office friends to an early lunch (or leave early from work) by taking part in a delicious December deal. As a gift to you, Blue Hill Tavern has a three-course lunch special for $19.99 during the month of December. They will also be offering complimentary valet for both lunch and dinner.
Saturday or Sunday, Anytime: Take the MARC Weekend Train to Washington, D.C.:
Its finally here: MARC has smartened to its major consumers. It kicks-off weekend services this weekend. Service will officially begin from Penn Station at 7:35 a.m. The last trains will depart from Union Station in Washington, D.C. at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday. For those unfamiliar with the MARC train, it’s aggressively cheaper than taking a weekend Amtrak which can often top $20 a trip. A MARC ride from Penn to Union station will cost you $7 — savings that will help supplement your beer money in expensive D.C. bars.
Tuesday, December 10, 5 to 9 p.m.: Get in the Holiday Cheer at the O’Donnell Square Lamp Post Lighting:
Watch the square get lit, but not in the typical way. While not on the weekend, the sixth annual Lamp Post Lighting ceremony (an opportunity for local businesses to sponsor and decorate one of the O’Donnell Square lamp posts) is quintessentially Canton. The event will light up the square and host Santa Claus starting at 6 p.m. Sip free hot chocolate and coffee, vote on your favorite lamp post, participate in a raffle, and listen to some caroling. Adult beverages will also be available for sale.
